Cold Lake Library System Getting Interlibrary Loan Room

The Cold Lake Public Library system has received some funding from the city to build a brand new interlibrary loan workroom to better serve the community.

“We need to build (a new room) because our interlibrary loans have increased so much,” says Director Leslie Price. “Interlibrary loans are simply the books that come from somewhere other than our library that people can order online. We receive between three and five hundred books daily and we send books out as well. We just have this small little area that our girls work in so we’ve needed to expand for a long time and give them a proper work room, so that’s what we’re going to be doing.”

Things are moving forward fast on the project now. The tender for bids goes out next week. Price says they were able to secure funding from the city relatively quickly. “We actually went to them last spring and they told us to come back at budget time and then they approved them. It was actually a pretty quick process.

“And the public all benefits because it’s all their books coming in.”

Also part of the renovations will be a new government courrier depot across the hallway.
