Cold Lake Explores Waste Management Costs

The City of Cold Lake is exploring new options for waste management. The City is researching the idea of a Regional Class 2 Landfill. There is a Regional Class 3 Landfill, which would allow for larger items; such as construction material or large materials from a home renovation. However, there isn’t a local landfill with the ability to host regular everyday waste and because of environmental limitations Cold Lake does not have the ability to bury their garbage.

As it is now, the city transfers their waste to Riley which is quite costly says Mayor of Cold Lake Craig Copeland.

The City will continue to explore their options and would like to hear from the public. They are holding a waste management survey which the public can fill out online HERE or by picking up a paper copy at city hall.
