Assault Charges Bumped Up To Second Degree Murder After Victim Passes On

After initially charging 29-year-old Jordan Soloway of Elk Point with Aggravated Assault for attacking a 32-year-old Kehewin man, police have upped his charges to second degree murder after his victim succumbed to his injuries.

The assault occurred on September 5th, with the Kehewin man sustaining serious injuries. He succumbed to them in hospital on October 17th. An autopsy was conducted at the office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Edmonton and additional tests are pending.

Members along with the RCMP Major Crimes Unit from Edmonton (MCU) have consulted with the Crown and upped Soloway’s charges to second degree murder. He remains in custody and is scheduled to attend Bonnyville Provincial court on Nov. 1, 2016. The name of the victim will not be released.

As this matter is now before the courts, there will be no further updates in relation to this investigation.
