City of Cold Lake says Air Weapons Range Revenue Not Up For Grabs

The City of Cold Lake has re-affirmed their stance that the Air Weapons Range money is not up for grabs. There was a committee formed of The Town of Bonnyville, The MD of Bonnyville, The Village of Glendon and Lac La Biche country. The committee hopes to lobby the provincial government for a share of revenue from the air weapons range. Currently, the majority of the revenue from taxes on the land goes to the City of Cold. Mayor of Cold Lake, Craig Copeland, says the committee is mistaken if they believe they will be able to get a share of the revenue.

Mayor Copeland goes on to say an option the city has to deter any further discussion is to build a land bridge from the city to the air weapons range. The mayor also notes that if the committee wants to discuss regional government, which the city believes is the next step to sustaining the area then the city would participate in those talks. However, the city is not willing to discuss any revenue sharing of the air weapons range.
