County Proud Event Big Success

About 800 people attended Lac La Biche’s Second County Proud Community Appreciation Event this past Friday.
The event was planned to honour the community’s response to the Fort McMurray wildfire. This past weekend’s event was held at the Bold Centre while Plamondon hosted an event of their own the week previous.

Event goers got to enjoy a nice, catered roast beef meal as well as a variety of children’s activities. Mugsy the clown and several bouncy castles were able to keep the young ones entertained. There was supposed to be a screening of “The Jungle Book” outdoors as well, but less than favourable weather forced it to be moved inside.

During a ceremony, the county presents two special mirrors with the phrase “County Proud” on them. One mirror will be displayed at the Bold Center and the other will be hung in Plamondon’s Festival Centre. The concept behind them is that whenever community members pass by and see themselves reflected, they can remember they were a part of the humanitarian response that put the county in national headlines.
