Scott Cyr Wants Personal Letters on Highway Weed Control Problem

MLA Scott Cyr is encouraging MD residents frustrated with weeds growing on provincial highways to send him a letter.

Spraying for weeds in the ditches by  provincially owned highways is not within the MD’s jurisdiction. However, the province only conducts spraying if there are complaints. So far, Edmonton has only received mail from the various municipalities on the issue. Cyr believes if he can get enough personal letters from constituents to present, it will move the needle.

Cyr has heard a few stories himself already. One resident complained that he hit a deer because he couldn’t see it coming out of the long grass by the road. Other residents have raised concerns that the noxious weeds will spread into their fields.

Scott Cyr’s mailing address is:

4428 50 avenue

Bonnyville,
