Man’s Friends take to the Roads and Skies to Help Find His Stolen Truck

Trevor Hallwachs has just won the 2016 Best Friends in the Lakeland award.

On Wednesday, Hallwachs made a Facebook post asking his friends to look out for his white truck, which had been stolen around Crane Lake. And did they ever. Within hours a few people spotted the truck and posted photos in the replies. However, each time the thief ran off and they lost sight of it.

Fortunately, it turned out that Hallwachs had some ariel support in his corner. Another one of his friends, Dustin Spence took his personal aircraft out and flew over the countryside on the hunt, going off the other people’s leads. After a few hours without any success, Spence saw the truck and relayed its location to the RCMP.

Soon after the police engaged in a pursuit and Spence stayed hot on the trail as well. The truck eventually wound up in a ditch and the suspects were finally captured near the Elizabeth Metis Settlement. Unfortunately, Hallwachs’ truck did not return in mint condition.  The front windshield was severely cracked and some of the internal electronics had been ripped out.
