Funding Needed for Bonnyville Waterline

The funding for a new waterline in Bonnyville is still awaiting approval from the province. After nearly a year waiting to hear from the province on whether or not it can assist in the funding of the town of Bonnyville’s proposed new waterline town council has decided to take it upon themselves to approach the province.

Mayor of Bonnyville Gene Sobelowski says a committee will be formed with various other stakeholders to approach the provincial government. He is hoping to join forces with The City of Cold Lake, surrounding communities, and even the county of St. Paul who has an interest in the Water for Life project.

Mayor Sobelowski is hoping that through approaching the minister he’ll be able to lobby the government to amortize the cost rather than have the town come up with the funds in the first year of constructing the waterline.
