300 Evacuees From Lac La Biche Coming to Bonnyville

The town and MD of Bonnyville have learned that they can expect roughly 300 Fort McMurray evacuees from the Bold Center in Lac La Biche to make their way into town over the coming days.
That will nearly double the amount of evacuees in the area. 380 had registered in the town and surrounding area before the announcement. Evacuees will be put into hotels until space fills up. From there they will be housed in work camps nearby. Fire Chief Brian McEvoy told MD council that the transition will start this afternoon after evacuees receive their payment from the province. “We’re working on all of the details now, with providing food services out of the C2 and support services as well…. so it’s going to get interesting over the next little while.”
