Bonnyville Check-in Centre on Path to Becoming Reception Centre

PRESS RELEASE

The Town of Bonnyville and Municipal District of Bonnyville are working to becoming an official reception centre for Fort McMurray fire evacuees.

This means there will now be a coordinated effort to get evacuees into more comfortable living arrangements during their time in our area.

Currently, staff are working to organize systems to register and feed evacuees in our area. Evacuees need to register at the C2 Recreation Centre in order to receive the services and benefits the Town and M.D. are setting up. You also must have a Red Cross registration number.

If you would like to volunteer to assist in these efforts, please contact David Beale, Director of Emergency Social Services at 780-826-9443.

The check-in centre at C2 Recreation Centre (4313-50 Ave) will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

If you’d like to donate items currently in need, please see the updated list at http://md.bonnyville.ab.ca/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=244

If you’d like to make a monetary donation, please contact the Red Cross (www.redcross.ca) or any other non-government organization.
