Municipalities All over the Lakeland Overwhelmed With Item Donations, Asking People to Stop

Even in the case of donating  items to Fort McMurray evacuees, there can be too much of a good thing.

Municipalities from St. Paul to Bonnyville to  Lac La Biche are dealing with the same problem. People have been donating so much clothing and other items, that they simply don’t have the manpower to keep up with it all. Those in charge are politely asking residents to refrain from donating items at this time. Instead, a cash donation to the red cross is strongly preferred. Remember that the Alberta government is matching all donations to the Red Cross, so every dollar donated that way essentially counts as double.
