Lac La Biche Still Has Evacuee Situation Under Control

Lac La Biche still has a good handle on the influx of evacuees coming from Fort McMurray.

Communications Co-ordinator with the county Jihad Moghrabi says the county has seen just under 600 evacuees from the fire so far and 270 have requested and received accommodations.  A lot of evacuees are using Lac La Biche has a pit stop as they make their way to friends and family in other parts of the province. Moghrabi says there’s still lots of space available for those who need it. 500 cots are set up at the Bold Center and other venues have been made available as well.

A steady stream has been coming through all day with major traffic jams. Schools in the county were closed today to get some cars and buses off the road and make way for those coming from Fort McMurray.
