Cold Lake Mayor Craig Copeland can find some positives in the 2016 budget, but is disappointed that Highway 28 to Edmonton has been glanced over yet again.
While the mayor is happy with the announcement that Highway 55 will see some resurfacing, but other than some minor work around Redwater, 28 will remain in its current state for a while yet.
“It’s a bit alarming that highway keeps being left off the map… Certainly in our area the highways are still not being addressed. No passing lanes at all [and no] fixing up some of the intersections at Ardmore or Fort Kent.”
Looking elsewhere at the budget, Copeland is unhappy with the carbon tax but is very supportive of the cut to the small business tax.
