Has St. Paul Found Its Old Bell?

The committee for Canada’s 150th birthday in St. Paul has come across a very exciting lead in the hunt for an old bell that used to sit on top of the rec centre.

After the story of the committee’s search for the bell was initially posted on Mylakelandnow.com, one reader posted a picture of a remarkably similar looking one. Linda Sallstrom with the committee says the bell currently resides in Sherwood Park and that it was brought down there by a man who moved from St. Paul. The bell has a serial number on the inside but the corresponding records may or may not exist at the town of St. Paul’s offices.

Sallstrom adds that they have someone looking into it. The committee is still looking for what might have happened to an old schoolhouse in town that was  in place until at least 1967.
