Four People Charged in Kehewin Axe Fight

Four people have been charged after an axe fight broke out in Kehewin.

Bonnyville RCMP arrived on the scene around 9:30 in the evening of the 14th. A 31-year-old male involved in the fight was found in the basement of a residence with several injuries. He was also found to be wanted on outstanding charges. The other main combatant was a 35-year-old Edmonton man who had fled the scene, but was found a short while later suffering from a head injury.

Some more investigation revealed that the two men had arrived on the scene in a stolen car together with two women. It also turned out that the women had held the 31  year old down at one point so that the 35 year could get a few blows in. Both ended up getting a few hits on each other.

All four people involved face charges. The RCMP lists them off as follows:

  • The 35-year-old male who sustained injuries to the face remains in custody on charges of Assault with a Weapon, Assault, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Uttering Threats, Possession of Stolen Property, and four counts of Failing to Comply with Conditions. He is set to appear in Bonnyville Provincial Court Tuesday, March 22nd;
  • the 31-year-old male, who sustained injuries to his back and arms, was on court compelling conditions for previous charges of Possession of Stolen Property and has a lengthy criminal record.  He was put before a Justice of the Peace for his outstanding warrant of Unlawfully at Large and received $500.00 cash bail.  It was determined by a Justice of the Peace that he should be released on court compelling documents with conditions to appear in Bonnyville Provincial Court on Tuesday, April 19th for charges of Assault with a Weapon, Possession of Stolen Property, Mischief over $5000.00, and three counts Failing to Comply with Conditions;
  • the 35-year-old female was released on court compelling documents as well, with conditions for charges of Assault and Possession of Stolen Property. She is set to appear in Bonnyville Provincial Court on Tuesday, April 26th;
  • and the 18-year-old female was on court compelling conditions from previous charges of Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Possession of Marijuana, Assault, and Failing to Comply with Conditions. She was brought before a Justice of the Peace for charges of Assault, Possession of Stolen Property, and four counts of Failing to Comply with Conditions. She has been remanded and is to appear before Bonnyville Provincial Court on Tuesday, March 22nd.
