Cold Lake Sees Increase in Unpaid Property Taxes

The weak economy is leading to an increase in owners struggling to make their property taxes in Cold Lake.

Mayor Craig Copeland says close to sixty properties in the area are struggling to pay their full amount this year, up from perhaps a dozen the year before. He stresses though that the city is willing to work with owners on repayment plans to help ease the burden where possible.

Copeland says that such a state of affairs is likely to continue until the oil industry is able to bounce back.
