Man Arrested After Standoff in St. Paul

the intersection of Hwy 881 and Hwy 29 was blocked off to traffic for several hours last night while police dealt with an armed man in a lengthy standoff.

The incident began around 4:45 when a bailiff came to repossess a vehicle. The situation escalated quickly when he was greeted by a man with a gun.   The Edmonton Emergency Response Team, Crisis Negotiation, EDU, PDS and Air Services were all brought onto the scene to help the RCMP and the man gave up peacefully around midnight. Charges are pending and the investigation is ongoing.
