During the June 24th council meeting, Cold Lake city council approved a request to move $3,500 sponsorship grant for the upcoming RCMP Charity Golf Tournament after the original sponsorship level became unavailable.
Shauna Rehbein, speaking for the High Brown Club, that operated the event, requested the change, explaining that the platinum sponsorship tier has already been taken by another supporter.
“As you may recall, on May 27, council approved a $3,500 sponsorship grant following the recommendation from the Community Advisory Committee,” said Paul McWilliams, General Manager of Community Services. “The funding was designated as a platinum sponsorship package in support of the RCMP charity golf tournament scheduled for July 18 at the Cold Lake Golf and Winter Club.”
With the platinum level now unavailable, organizers proposed using the funds instead for a combination of one gold sponsorship and one lunch sponsorship. McWilliams noted the change would not impact the budget and still aligns with the original goal of supporting a big community charity event.
“The goal sponsorship includes a team, a golf team, and additional promotional benefits, ensuring that the city of Cold Lake receives meaningful recognition and community engagement value,” he said.
Council voted to go with the new sponsorship package.
