The town of St. Paul is getting ready for a packed Canada Day celebration on July 1, featuring activities, live entertainment, and a performance of Canadian fiddle music.
The day starts off with a pancake breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. at the St. Paul Legion at 4925 49 Avenue. The afternoon events begin at 11 a.m., including a car show till 3 p.m., a vendor market, food trucks, and multiple family friendly activities like bouncy houses, sparkling tattoos, a petting zoo, balloon animals, roller skating, axe throwing, and arts and crafts. The St. Paul Museum will also be offering free admission throughout the afternoon.
Live entertainment starts at noon with Calvin Vollrath with Friends followed by circus performances at 12:45 p.m. and 2 p.m., a DJ set by Earthman Media from 1:15 to 1:45 p.m. Kehewin Native Dance Theatre will take the stage from 3 to 4 p.m.
Other free activities are running from 12 to 4 p.m. including banner art, hose praying by St. Paul Fire Department, and a community art walk. At 4:30 p.m., Elite Theatre is having free sponsored showings of The Goonies (1985) and Antz (1998).
Evening events are held at the Rec Centre grounds with a fundraiser BBQ hosted by St. Paul Affordable Community Housing from 6 to 9 p.m., with A Celebration of Canadian Fiddling taking main stage performance at 9 p.m. featuring artists Calvin Vollrath, Daniel Gervais, Mark Sullivan and Jeremy Rusu.
The Canada Day events will finish with fireworks at 11 p.m.
