18-year-old charged after collision leaving a minor with serious injuries

A vehicle collision in St. Paul at a convenience store on the morning of June 14 has sent one person to hospital with serious injuries and has resulted in multiple charges against an 18 year old man.

RCMP were called to the business around 3:00 a.m. for a report of a collision where a vehicle had reportedly struck a person and the building. “Police arrived to find an injured minor laying on the ground in front of the business. The driver and victim are known to each other,” reads the RCMP release.

“Allegedly, the driver of the truck struck the victim, also crashing into the business. This pinned the victim between the vehicle and the building. The driver then fled the scene,” according to RCMP.

The victim was transported to and Edmonton Hospital with serious injuries and is recovering.

RCMP got an arrest warrant and the suspect was taken into custody.

18-year-old Courage Matayhies Monias, was charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, failure to stop after an accident, and mischief over $5,000. He is being held in custody for a judicial release hearing.
