979 Coyotes, 52 Wolves Hunted in MD Program so Far

The MD of Bonnyville’s  Coyote and Wolf Predation Program has entered its fourth month and an update on the totals was provided at the last council meeting.

979 Coyotes and 52 wolves have been killed and turned in so far.  Director Matt Janz says the wolf count is up this year over other years, which could be the result of the forest fire on the Air Weapons Range last summer. Typically, the department sees around 35 wolves.

The program is in place until March 31st. Hunters are compensated  15 dollars for every coyote they bring in and 75 dollars for every wolf.
