Cold Lake RCMP’s General Investigations Section (GIS) has concluded Project K-NANOSECOND, a long-term drug trafficking investigation that resulted in one of the largest drug seizures ever made in Cold Lake and surrounding areas. With help from the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) in Lloydminster and Edmonton, officers targeted a group trafficking cocaine in the region.
On February 25, Cold Lake GIS, along side Lloydminster and Edmonton ALERT, the RCMP Eastern Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit, the RCMP Community Response Team in Edmonton, Bonnyville GIS, Police Dog Services, and members of the Cold Lake RCMP, executed six separate search warrants.
Three residences, a commercial property in Cold Lake, and two other properties were searched in the hamlet of Ardmore and Edmonton. As a result of the investigation approximately one kilogram of suspected cocaine, one kilogram of suspected fentanyl, five kilograms of a cocaine-cutting agent, $68,000 in cash, 23 firearms, including four restricted handguns, and two vehicles were seized.
Francois Poulet, a 31-year-old resident of Cold Lake has been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and possession of a prohibited weapon.
Cameron Pike, a 62-year-old resident of Cold Lake has been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime, careless use of a firearm, and possession of a prohibited device.
Nicholas Deboeck, a 33-year-old resident of Ardmore, has been charged with he following offences with trafficking in a controlled substance.
All three suspects were released on conditions and are scheduled to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Cold Lake Court on March 19.
