Northern Lights Public Schools is offering a special opportunity for students who are new to taking the bus.
The “Meet the Bus” program will be held next week on August 29th and 30th, aimed at introducing young students to the school bus experience in a friendly and stress-free environment.
Transportation staff will visit several schools over the two days to help new riders, primarily Kindergarten students, to get comfortable with the idea of riding the bus. The event will include a chance to meet a bus driver, explore the inside of the school bus, learn important bus safety rules, and even take a short ride. The program is designed to boost students’ confidence and ease any anxieties about taking the bus to and from school.
While the event is targeted at kindergarten students, any student who has not taken the bus before is welcome to join. No registration is required; families can visit their local school at scheduled times to participate.
Here is the schedule for the “Meet the Bus” sessions.
August 29th: Duclos School, Bonnyville at 10 a.m., and Ardmore School at 1 p.m.
August 30th: North Star Elementary School, Cold Lake at 10 a.m., Cold Lake Elementary School at 1 p.m. and Art Smith Aviation Academy Cold Lake at 1 p.m.
