Vermillion RCMP charges Mannville resident with firearm offences

In the early hours of February 5, Vermillion RCMP assisted by Vegreville and Kitscoty RCMP, responded to an abandoned 911 call in Mannville. Upon arrival, officers were startled by multiple gunshots and ricochets emanating from a nearby residence. Subsequently, another related call was received at a separate location, leading RCMP to arrest a male suspect.

Scott Sidney Hinton, a 35-year-old Mannville resident, was apprehended at the second residence. During the investigation, officers seized a 22-caliber rifle from the scene.

Hinton faces several charges, including reckless discharge of a firearm, possession of a firearm while unauthorized, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and possession of illicit substances.

Following his arrest, Hinton was brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody. He is scheduled to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in St. Paul on February 8, 2024.
