Spike in vehicle thefts and break-ins in Bonnyville

In the past week, Bonnyville residents have been on edge as local law enforcement deals with a surge in vehicle thefts, and break-ins, prompting the RCMP to issue a public advisory.  

Over the last seven days, five vehicles were reported stolen, with two of them having been left either unlocked, idling, or with keys inside. Fortunately, one vehicle has been recovered, but authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant and report any sighting of the following stolen vehicles.  

2009 grey Honda Civic, License Plate CPW 3078, stolen from 5300 block of 51 Street. 

2002 white Chevrolet Silverado, License Plate CJK 0929, stolen from the 5000 block of 51 Avenue. 

2008 white Ford F150, License Plate CMS 2636, stolen from the 4000 block of Lakeshore Drive.  

2004 silver GMC Sierra, License Plate CJZ 9241, stolen from a resident on Range Road 455 near Township Road 621.

In addition to the vehicle thefts, the Bonnyville RCMP responded to nine break-ins in the last week, leaving the community on edge.  

November 25, Condo building break-in, where suspect gained access to common areas and stole nine firearms (rifles and shotguns).  

November 27, Garage break-ins on the 4000 block of 40 Street and 4000 block of 41st Avenue, resulting in stolen garage tools and property damage.  

November 29, Garage break-in on the 4100 block of 40 Avenue.  

On November 30, Break-ins were reported at various locations, including outbuildings on a rural property near RR 463 and a school building in town.  

December 1, Garage break-in on the 4000 block of 43A Avenue, resulting in property damage and the theft of a bank card.  

Authorities are urging anyone with information on these incidents to come forward. The Bonnyville RCMP and Crime Stoppers can be contacted for those who wish to share information anonymously.  

Residents are reminded to take precautions such as locking vehicles and securing properties to deter potential criminals. Law enforcement is actively investigating these incidents and working to ensure the safety and security of the Bonnyville community.
