Cherry Grove is hosting the NWSPCCA Pony Chuckwagon and Chariots this weekend for the first time in 6 years.
The race weekend will begin on July 8 and run to the 9th with gates opening at noon with races starting at 1. The event will see patrons get the chance to enjoy a Cherry Grove Burger with carnival games and prizes all while watching the races.
Chantelle Ayers one of the event planners said she is excited for the event.
“We used to host them every year but Covid got in the way and there were some changes within the board but we are excited to have them back. Our board has changed twice since the last time we hosted.”
Ayers said her dad reached out last year to test the waters about a return and the NWSPCCA jumped at the opportunity. A total of 35 volunteers have given their time each day of the weekend to help get this event going. Ayers says it has been a lot of work getting the grounds up and ready but she is ready to see the races begin.
“It will all come together with all the workers and volunteers. There is a lot to get done yet but we will have it all in check coming at the 8th.”
Tickets are $10 per person per day and there will be no ATMs on location but venders will accept cash and debit.
