Bonnyville Cancer Clinic Fun Run comes back in 2023

The Bonnyville Cancer Clinic Fun Run has returned to Bonnyville with the goal of raising more money and awareness for cancer patients here in the Lakeland.

The fun run is a 5K run or walk event to bring attention to the clinic and the patients fighting cancer. An information table will be set up by the Bonnyville Health And Wellness Coalition alongside a DJ for the event.

All the funds raised by the fun run will be going towards the Bonnyville Cancer Clinic as Cancer Patient Navigator Kelly Haygarth says the patients in Bonnyville have a different battle to fight as well.

“Our Patients have to travel for their appointments and sometimes there is no option for the treatment in Bonnyville like radiation. If they have to travel then they have to pay for accommodations and it adds up fast. A lot of our patients don’t qualify for any extra help so every penny counts to help them get through this and come out of the treatment with their head above water.”

This is not the first run and Haygarth says it feels amazing to see this much support.

” I am very proud of our community and I hope people keep signing up and come out to support each other.”

So far 63 people have signed up for the run and anyone who signs up before May 19 will be given a Bonnyville Cancer Clinic Fun Run t-shirt. Anyone who would like to participate in the run can register online beforehand here. The Fun Run will take place Sunday, June 4th, at the Bonnyville Splash Park for check-in and departure with the check-in time at 12:00 p.m. and with the start time set for 2:00 p.m.
