Cold Lake houses ATAC training at Canadian Forces Base

Cold Lake residents could see an increase in air traffic over the city while The Royal Canadian Air Force conducts its Advanced Tactical Aviation Course throughout the month of April.

The training flights will be seen most often in the training areas of CFB Cold Lake during daylight hours. CH-146 Griffon and CH-147F Chinook helicopters will both be doing flights around Cold Lake.

ATAC is a flying course representing premier training in Canada. Pilots who pass obtain the qualification of Air Mission Commander and the ability to plan and execute complex and joint tactical aviation missions.

The training is set to finish on April 30th.
