Points West Workers Hold Information Picket

Seniors Care Workers with Points West Living in Cold Lake held an information picket from 12 to 2 yesterday afternoon to draw attention to working conditions at the facility.

The workers have been in collective bargaining talks since August. AUPE – who is representing the workers – claims that pay between the company’s locations varies greatly and is generally below industry standard. AUPE also says that Points West has refused to discuss compensation for the duration of these talks. However, CEO Doug Mills explains that the company has been waiting for the Alberta Provincial Budget and for Alberta Health Services’ budget to be approved before making any commitments on that front.

This was the second of three scheduled pickets at rotating locations planned by the union this month.
