New lights expected to save Energy Centre 10 grand on bill

The Energy Centre in Cold Lake is shedding some light on changes happening within. The centre says it has received money from an Albertan municipal grant to help retrofit the lighting in the building.

New and efficient LED lights will replace the older fluorescent lighting in place in some parts of the building.

“We are excited to get started with this retrofit,” Mayor Craig Copeland said. “Not only will this standardize lighting so that the older phases of the Energy Centre will match the new construction, but it will reduce operating costs and save a significant amount of power needed for lighting a large and very well-used facility.”

The Energy Centre expects the change to save over $10,000 on the power bill all said and done. Work is expected to be completed by December.
