Golden Loaf cracks top 10 in national bakery contest

A tasty stop in the Lakeland has cracked the top 10 in voting on a sweet ballot. The Golden Loaf Bakery in Elk Point is sitting in 10th spot across the nation in the “Sweetest Bakery in Canada” contest as of Thursday morning.

The shop on 50th street is the only one in Alberta in the grand prize rankings. Other Lakeland bakeries including Jennie’s Diner in Bonnyville and The Old Fashioned Bread Bakery in Smoky Lake are currently in the running for nods in the provincial/regional categories.

Voting for the bakeries is open until the end of September.
