The water quality at Kinosoo Beach in Cold Lake is improving, says city officials. In a release, the city says they are continuing to keep an eye on levels of the enterococcus bacteria with Alberta Health Services.
“Our test results have shown significant improvement in the water quality, but the guidelines take an average of the levels over the past 30 days,” Kevin Nagoya, the City’s Chief Administrative Officer said. “The average remains above the acceptable threshold due to spikes in a few of the results. We continue to urge residents to pay attention to AHS’s advisory until we can communicate that it has been lifted.”
The city says it is still working on trying to bring the bacteria levels down. They say the public can help by not feeding wild birds who may use the beach as a bathroom as well as properly disposing of bags that contain dog waste.
City staff say an announcement will be made when the water quality recovers.
