RCMP looking into cause of fire

Fire fighting operations on the Moose Lake fire are wrapping up and now mounties are looking into the cause of the blaze. BRFA officials say helicopters will work Wednesday evening dumping water on hot spots near Range Road 474 and Highway 660.

Local RCMP and Investigators with Alberta Agriculture and Forestry are currently on site. Range Road 474 will remain
closed Wednesday and is expected to be reopened Thursday.

Boat launches that were closed to allow water bomber access to Moose Lake will open back up on Thursday afternoon. BRFA Regional Fire chief Jay Melvin says he’s thankful for his crew and community.

“I would like to take this time to thank the fire crews, M.D. staff, and private contractors for their hard work and dedication, and thanks also to the public for their patience and giving us room to work.”

Melvin also expressed his appreciation to Cornerstone Co-op out of St. Paul and the County of St. Paul for the donation of food and food prep trailer. He also thanked Mary Brown’s Chicken & Taters in Bonnyville for the donation of Wednesday’s lunch for the crew.

“I’m grateful to have so much support from the community,”
