NLSD is Happy with Reversal of Education Budget Cuts

Northern Lights School Division is happy with the Provincial Government’s Reversal of Education Budget Cuts. The government announced late last week that it would fund enrollment growth, reverse the grant reductions that had been proposed, provide funding for the final year of the Teacher Framework Agreement, and remove the restrictions on the use of school board reserves and staffing levels.

These changes mean Northern Lights will receive approximately 2.7 per cent more in funding in 2015-16 than originally anticipated. It will also be able to access money in reserves that had been earmarked for specific projects. The board plans to hold a special meeting June 29th to finalize the budget.
