Resignation of SPERD trustee will trigger byelection

A St. Paul Education School Board trustee has resigned. Deb Pederson tendered her resignation Wednesday at the board meeting. Pederson has been a trustee since she was elected to the board back in 2004.

She cites her move to Nashville with her daughter as the reason for resigning. Pederson is the second SPERD trustee to resign this year. Rhonda Lafrance stepped down from her position back in March.

Because two trustees are now missing from the board, a byelection will be held to fill the vacancies. The date of the byelection isn’t expected to be known until at least June.
