A chunk of the Iron Horse Trail will be getting paved, says the MD of Bonnyville. MD council made the decision in their regular meeting on Wednesday. The section that is getting the work is located between Range Road 482 and 485. This also includes the section of trail that runs through the village of Glendon.
The entire section of trail seeing pavement runs just under 5 kilometres long. Council decided to pave the chunk to try and cut down on repair costs on the currently-unpaved stretch. Before any work gets done, the project has to be OK’d by the Northeast Muni-Corr Ltd which manages the trail over the municipalities it spans.
Talks are still going on about paving the section at the Beaver River Trestle. The Iron Horse Trail runs over 300 kilometres, from Smoky Lake to Cold Lake and south to Elk Point.
