Environment Canada says the last three days have broken heat records in the Lakeland. The weather giant says March 19th through the 21st daytime highs topped out at 13.4, 14 and 12.8 degrees Celsius respectively. Seasonal averages around this time of year are normally at around two degrees.
March 20th was also the first official day of Spring. Environment Canada says it was the hottest start to spring in the Lakeland in their 66 years of keeping records. Meteorologists are saying the warm weather may bring unpredictability when it comes to spring forecasts.
The MD of Bonnyville says its preparing for a busy spring runoff season and hoping to limit flooding to a minimum.
