Logan Gorst Sets New Track Record

2015 Saskatoon World Chuckwagon Races  – Saskatoon, SK

It was hot Friday night in Saskatoon as night 2 of the Saskatoon World Chuckwagon Races in memory of Ashley Richards was run under very fast racetrack conditions at Marquis Downs at Prairieland Park. For the second consecutive night the track record fell, this time to Logan Gorst after a blistering run of 1:16.08.

From barrel number four in the second heat, Gorst, driving the BCDR Fleet Truck & Trailer Mechanical outfit, was the day money winner, 42 one-hundredths of a second faster than defending Saskatoon champion Kirk Sutherland. Evan Salmond, Roger Moore and Luke Tournier rounded out the top five times on the night. Logan Gorst’s track record time beat the previous track record of 1:16.55 set by Mark Sutherland on opening night by 47 one-hundredths of a second.

After 2 runs, defending champion Kirk Sutherland’s EMCO Corporation outfit has taken over the lead in the overall aggregate standings. His 2-day total of 2:33.74 is 84 one-hundredths of a second better than day 1 winner Mark Sutherland. Logan Gorst, Layne MacGillivray and Luke Tournier complete the top five wagons after two nights of running. The driver posting the best 4-day aggregate time after Sunday’s run will be declared the champion of the 2015 Saskatoon World Chuckwagon Races in Memory of Ashley Richards.

Night 3 of the Saskatoon World Chuckwagon Races can be heard live on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 9:00pm Eastern, 8:00pm Central, and 7:000pm Mountain time on Rural Radio on SiriusXM Channel 80 or on Country 99 at 99.7 FM out of Bonnyville.
