Update- Mounties say two in custody after Portage lockdown

Police in Lac La Biche are now saying the suspect believed to have been in Portage College has been caught. A press release is describing the situation around the college campus as “ended.” Police say the man was arrested without incident.

The RCMP says Portage College in Lac La Biche has been put on lockdown as they are searching for a suspect. Mounties say they were trying to catch a pair of suspects after a car chase. The vehicle was eventually stopped and both suspects fled on foot. One suspect was caught by police while the other fled into the college.

The school was notified and locked down. Police say they currently have the college contained and are cleaning and evacuating the building. Mounties are asking the public to stay away from the area for the time being.
