Bonnyville RCMP Arrest a Man after Reports of Him Pointing a Gun at Traffic

***PRESS RELEASE FROM BONNYVILLE RCMP DETACHMENT***

On April 27th, 2015 at approximately 10:00 PM, the Bonnyville RCMP Detachment received a 911 call for service of a male sitting on his front step with a handgun near 48th Avenue and 53 A Street.

While on route to the scene, the police received several updates that the male was shooting the gun towards the road way and pointing it at vehicles.  Once on scene, the Bonnyville RCMP Detachment Members located the male in his front yard and were able to safely direct him away from home and firearm so that he was arrested without incident.  Once the male, a 24 year originally from Nova Scotia, was in police custody investigation revealed that he had been drinking alcohol in his front yard while shooting his BB gun at a lawn chair that was near the road.  The BB gun was located and closely resembled a handgun.

The male was transported to the Bonnyville RCMP Detachment where he was charged with Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Pointing a Firearm and Careless Use of a Firearm before being released with conditions to help ensure the safety of the public including to abstain from alcohol and not to possess any weapon including BB and Airsoft guns.
