A heat wave that has warnings issued in every province except Manitoba will have things hot in the Lakeland this week. Heat warnings for the Lakeland and other parts of the province were issued today.
Environment Canada says temperatures could hit 34 degrees by Friday. The average temperature for the region at this time of year is around 23 degrees Celsius. A 1991 heat wave set the record high of 36 degrees.
Environment Canada reminds everyone to take caution when it comes to the heat. They say to consider rescheduling outdoor activities to cooler hours of the day. Take frequent breaks from the heat, spending time indoors at cooled buildings. They also remind everyone to drink plenty of water and other non-alcoholic, non-caffeinated beverages to stay hydrated and do not leave any person or pet inside a closed vehicle, for any length of time.
