Glenn Andersen will be the Alberta Party candidate for Bonnyville-Cold Lake- St. Paul in the 2019 provincial election. Andersen was a candidate under the Progressive Conservative banner in 2015. He says the 2015 run left a bad taste in his mouth.
“I’m still not convinced they’ve worked out the differences between the Wildrose and the PCs. Even with the name change, I still think they have some issues there.”
Andersen had served both on the town council and as mayor in St. Paul for nearly two decades. He lost re-election in October of 2017 to current mayor Maureen Miller.
When it comes to a campaign with the Alberta Party, Andersen says the ability to let the public play an active role in politics was too good to pass up.
“They’re an inclusive party that wants to hear from Albertans. They want the MLAs to bring the concerns of their constituency to the table.”
Andersen says the election of former Mayor of Edmonton Stephan Mandel as a leader is a solid choice, calling him “The start of something good for Alberta.”
“I think we’re open-minded enough, and so is Stephen, that we can continue to be there for Albertans.”
The 2019 provincial election will take place either on or before May 31st of next year.
