Heliport in Cold Lake back in business

Alberta Health Services says the Heliport at the Cold Lake Health Centre is back in business after some upgrades. The heliport had been closed temporarily while workers improved some features on it. Helicopters had been landing at Cold Lake Airport while the repairs took place.

AHS officials say work on the snowmelt system will allow more helicopters to land during winter. Some minor landscaping was also completed to allow for new mechanical parts underneath the pad.

Helicopters had been landing at Cold Lake Airport while the repairs took place. Ground ambulances were also used to transport patients to the airport.

AHS says having the pad back makes care at the Cold Lake Health Centre improved.

Having the heliport beside the healthcare centre ensures patients have improved access to critical care transport.
