Opening of new art display sees two legends in Indigenous art

Portage College in Lac La Biche recently celebrated the grand opening of a museum dedicated to Aboriginal art. The Professional Native Indian Artists Inc. Permanent Exhibition is a new display of art featuring works from the Indian Group of Seven, the name given to a group of artists formed in the early 1970s.

Alex Janvier and Joseph Sanchez are the last two living members of the group, and both were on hand for the ribbon cutting on the display last Friday. Tours are available of the museum, more can be learned by visiting the official website.
