Bonnyville RCMP arrest robbery suspect after wild chase through town

Bonnyville mounties are saying they’ve arrested a man after a wild police chase through town that lasted several minutes. It all started at around 5 am this morning, police from Cold Lake detachment were sent out to reports of a carjacking. They say the suspect abandoned the vehicle he had stolen and then proceeded to steal another car and head towards Bonnyville.

Bonnyville RCMP were able to find the suspect and it took the use of a police spike belt and a crash between the suspect and another driver to stop him after a pursuit through town. No one was hurt in the entire ordeal.

A 23 year old man from Cold Lake First Nation has been arrested. He’s charged with a variety of offences including robbery and flight from police and is currently awaiting a bail hearing. Mounties are asking anyone who may have come in contact with him during the alleged offences to call either the Cold Lake RCMP at 780-594-3302 or Bonnyville RCMP at 780-343-7200.
