Cold Lake hosting open house for 55 Plus games

The City of Cold Lake is gearing up to host the 2019 Winter 55 plus games and is looking for volunteers. The city announced Friday that an open house will be held in April to discuss positions for organizing the games, including Chairperson, Transportation Director, Entertainment Director and more. Also available are coordinator for the individual sports themselves.

“We have had a tremendous reaction from the community so far for volunteers who have expressed interest,” said Mayor Craig Copeland. “Now it’s time for an organizing committee to take shape so that they can begin to meet and take on the work of planning the games.”

A draft organizational chart will be presented at the meeting, although the committee’s final structure will be determined by the chairperson along with his or her committee members. Representatives from Alberta 55 plus Seniors Sport and Recreation Association, as well as the City of Cold Lake, will be in attendance to answer questions. The open house starts at 6:30 pm on April 11th at the Lakeland Inn in Cold Lake

People who are unable to attend the open house, but who still want to join the organizing committee are encouraged to contact the City of Cold Lake at [email protected] or 780-594-7926.
