Lakeland MP wants to put an end to rural crime

Lakeland Member of Parliament Shannon Stubbs has heard lots from her constituents when it comes to rural crime. Shes decided to address it in the House of Commons in Ottawa. Stubbs highlighted rural crime, which she referred to as “A crisis in rural communities in Alberta, but also is an escalating problem in rural communities right across the country.”, during her time to talk during proceedings.

Later this month, Stubbs is expected to table a motion demanding action from the Standing Committee on National Safety and Public Security. She cites lack of RCMP officers in rural communities, claiming nationally over one in ten positions sit vacant.

Stubbs expects the motion to come before the House of Commons on March 27, where they will debate the issue. She urges the public to reach out to their MP’s about the issue.
