NLSD taking nominations for award

The Northern Lights School Division is looking for those who make a difference. They’re taking nominations for the 2018 Friends of Education award. Nicole Garner is with the school division, and she says the award is handed out for a variety of reasons.

“Back in 2010, one of our long time trustees retired and to recognize her years of service the trustees decided to introduce a friends of education award. Recognizing partnerships and people in the community that do things for our schools, and making sure they were recognized, was important to her.”

Garner says the criteria for the award can vary. “It’s people who go above and beyond to support our schools. It could be a business who funds a program for students, it could also be a volunteer who puts in countless hours. The main criteria is that it’s something happening over a long period of time, and applicable to more than one school in the division.”

Nominations are being accepted until March 23rd, forms can be found at the school divisions website.
