Vicky Lafabvre Will Work to Maintain Cold Lake’s Vision

With the Mayor of Cold Lake, Craig Copeland, taking a leave of absence, Deputy Mayor, Vicky Lafabvre will be steering the proverbial ship that is Cold Lake

Vicky Lafabvre says will be making sure the city follows its vision, “I want us to continue to work together as a team, as a council, I think we do very well that way.” Lafabvre notes council all has “basically the same vision for Cold Lake and what we want to happen within the area.”

Lafabvre says she does not intend to “shake anything up” and that the city had previously released its Budget and had its 10 Year Plan in place before she took the helm. Lafabvre says she will work to see those goals implemented stating The City is “well on our way and we’ve got some good goals in place”.

Lafabvre says she will carry on until The City decides if they need new leadership or not. Mayor Copeland took his leave of absence on April 7th following the call for an election by The Provincial Government. Copeland is running, under the Progressive Conservative Party, for MLA of the Bonnyville-Cold Lake Constituency. The leave of absence was necessary to focus on his campaign and should he be elected, Cold Lake would then receive a resignation from Copeland. At that point The City would have 90 days to call an election. Lafabvre did not mention whether or not she would seek the mayor seat should it become vacant.
