Lakeland communities to host Family Day weekend event

Lakeland communities are teaming up to throw a brand new event for Family Day. 4 Wing Cold Lake, the City of Cold Lake, the M.D. of Bonnyville, and Kinosoo Ridge Snow Resort will be putting on Snow Fever from February 17 – 19, 2018.

The three-day celebration will include family-friendly activities, starting with Snöjuhla at Kinosoo Ridge on the 17th. That is billed as a “snow celebration” complete with a barbecue, live music, and racing.

“The M.D. is excited to be partnering with our neighbours for a weekend of winter fun, while showcasing Kinosoo Ridge,” says Reeve Greg Sawchuk. “It appears we have a long winter ahead of us. This will give us a chance to get out there and embrace the snow with our families.”

Sunday will move to the Cold Lake Marina for Fire & Ice. That day will include ice and snow sculptures, a pond hockey tournament, and a hotdog and marshmallow roast.

“Our winter festivities in the region are so diverse,” says Cold Lake Mayor Craig Copeland. “It’s going to be a great weekend of activities that really showcases the beauty of the Lakeland and all we have to offer in the
winter.”

The weekend will wrap up Monday with activities like cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, wagon rides and cookie decorating at 4 Wing.

“We have lots lined up for Snow Fever and there will be many opportunities for both children and adults to have some winter fun,” says Wing Commander Col. Paul Doyle.

Updates on the event will be shared on its Facebook Page.
